John Cyran practices out of our Denver office, and represents clients on water and other matters in every part of the State. He joined our firm in June 2017. John is one of the most experienced water law attorneys in the State, with extensive experience in every area of water law, in all seven water divisions, and in both federal and interstate water matters. Prior to joining our firm, John represented the State of Colorado for 15 years with the Colorado Attorney General’s office, serving as the chief advisor to the Colorado State Engineer on all intrastate water matters, and the State’s lead attorney on interstate matters involving the Colorado River. John also served as water referee for the Division 1 Water Court, and as Managing Partner for a boutique firm in Denver, with primary focus on water rights litigation, real estate, and tribal law. Prior to beginning his legal practice, John was a Judicial Clerk for Judge Jim Carrigan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. He is a graduate of Cornell University and an Order of the Coif graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law.
