About

Hoskin Farina & Kampf

Hoskin Farina & Kampf, Professional Corporation, traces its history from Vincent & Vincent, one of the first law partnerships established in western Colorado around the turn of the century. The modern history of the firm began around 1933, when James K. Groves returned to Grand Junction after law school to associate with Alexander Bowie. James Groves became one of the most prominent attorneys in the Rocky Mountain region, recognized for his particular expertise in natural resources law, and he was appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court in 1968. In the 1950s, William H. Nelson joined James Groves and carried on the tradition of quality representation as the firm grew in size.

Gregory K. Hoskin came to the firm from law school in 1965. He shared the same vision of Groves & Nelson, which was and is to have the lawyers in our firm practice a quality of law equal to or better than that in Denver and Salt Lake City. Gregg Kampf joined the firm in 1975, after having just clerked with Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice, Edward E. Pringle. Terrance L. Farina came to the firm in 1990, after having served as the District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District of Colorado, and Chairman and CEO of First National Bank in Grand Junction/Central Bank.

The firm’s leaders, past and present, and adherence to our guiding principles have taken us to where we are today. Our present and former attorneys include a Colorado Supreme Court Justice, a Colorado Bar Association President, a Colorado River Water Conservancy District Director, and a District Attorney. Four members of the firm are former presidents of the Mesa County Bar Association. Members of our firm serve on numerous other professional, civic, and charitable boards and committees. The firm actively supports many non-profit organizations within our community and beyond.

Our principal goal is and always has been to provide increased value to our clients through high-quality, efficient and timely legal services that are aligned with and responsive to our clients' needs and challenges. We represent individuals, companies and institutions in the areas of business and commercial law, trials and appeals, health care, labor and employment, school law, banking, workers' compensation defense, public entity, rural electric cooperative law, water law, natural resources and environmental law, real estate, construction law, creditor's rights, and a wide variety of probate and estate planning matters.
